SOLD Thundercat tidy low mileage

Postby jontifosi on Fri Dec 18, 2009 4:55 pm

Well one of your members 'lee8040' said post my bike here...so excuse me of my first post.

I have a low mileage 1997 Thundercat, i have a 40th bday on the horizon so think i'm selling this to fund a bigger bike. I've had it for the last two mots and it sailed straight through both, i've fitted stainless front downpipes so that's the expensive bit done. Mot'd til about June and taxed the same. 14000 miles which is just run in. handles really well and goes up and down the gears as it should. Only thing that lets it down is the top fairing being slightly off colour as when i fitted the stainless pipes and the fairing was off i thought i'd sand out the stone chips and re-spray it. It's datagged and alarmed and insurance is low. This bike doesn't have the issue with jumping out of 2nd gear and it totally relaible.
Portsmouth, I am 3rd owner from new.

I like looks of xjr1300, Zephyr 1100, Ducati Monster, Thunderace (bit it's a bit too similar to the Cat?
Someone suggest i try a firebalde but i haven't got a great deal of bike experience, could it be a bit dangerous?
Any advice??? on my next bike?

I was looking at getting a fireblade but have heard they can be abit twitchy. Not to sure though.
the Ducati monsters are lovely bikes.

Are you after a sportsbike or custom type bike?

If the Blades are twitchy then i'll give those a miss, not really an expert on bikes and it'd be money spent on a bike that's not much different to the cat.
Think i want to go for naked style either CB1000 superfour, zrx1200, xjr1300, i was wondering whether the cb1000 might be a good happy medium with regards to weight, but seems they're within 5 kg of eachother except the Kwak which is 10kg lighter. Looking at Monster forums it appears they may be a little temperamental.

Any other thoughts on bikes?

Seems ok, probably a bit expensive, i can't spend too much. Only thing i don't like about these type modern bikes is the amount of plastic they use to build them, i prefer a more traditional build, but then have to suffer the weigght issue.

I looked at this today, in the shop.. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/bi ... 1348519094
Olny looked around the front end, they've tarted it up with matt black paint on the downpipes and front forks to hide the blemishes, so not sure what else has been hidden, i'll give that one a miss, i don't think the miles are genuine either, just doesn't seem right to me.
